Watertown, New York ----- Samaritan Medical Center’s Ambulatory Surgery Unit (ASU) is hosting an open house for all members of the community.
In recognition of National Nurses’ Week, the nurses and staff of SMC’s Ambulatory Surgery Unit are opening the doors to the public for an informative “behind the scenes” look at the hospital’s same-day surgery center.
“We are proud of the work that our surgical staff performs every day of the year, both in the main operating room and in an ambulatory setting,” explains Diana K. Woodhouse, PhD, RN, Vice President of Patient Care Services. “We thought National Nurses’ Week was a perfect time to showcase the quality and scope of surgical procedures that are offered at Samaritan. Though we perform over 7,000 surgeries each year, the community-at-large rarely has the opportunity tour the unit and the see first-hand the technology that is available right here close to home.”
The Open House is being held on Saturday, May 5 th from 9 a.m. to Noon in SMC’s Ambulatory Surgery Unit, which is located on the third floor of the Watertown Medical Building, 826 Washington Street.
Tours of all sections of the Ambulatory Surgery Unit will be offered, including pre-operative, operating rooms, and post-anesthesia care units. The staff will offer free blood pressure screenings, and refreshments will be served.
The event is free and open to the public.
