Ethan Chalupa knew exactly what he wanted for his 8th birthday. Instead of presents, he asked friends and family who came to his birthday party to bring donations for the Children's Miracle Network of Northern New York at Samaritan Medical Center. Ethan got the idea after receiving a postcard in the mail announcing the new Peter Pan Birthday Club at Samaritan and raised over $200!
The Peter Pan Birthday Club was created with the idea that you don't have to be grown up to give. Showing our children the joy of giving can be the greatest gift of all. The club brings philanthropy to our youngest community members. Choosing to have birthday party guests make a donation instead of receiving gifts is a wonderful way to inspire young children to become philanthropists.
Joining the Peter Pan Birthday Club is easy:
Sign up for the Club by calling 315-785-4053.
To help organize the party the child will receive a "party pack" that includes invitations, donation envelopes, thank you cards and party favors.
After the birthday celebration simply call us to arrange the delivery of donations. Once a year, children who participate will be invited to take part in a "Kids are Heroes" celebration so that they may see how their gifts are helping real children in our community.
Additionally, parents may register their child in the national Peter Pan Children's Fund to receive a matching gift up to $100 in their honor. Donations made through the Peter Pan Birthday Club will benefit pediatric healthcare right here in Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties. Funds will be used to help purchase state of the art equipment for Samaritan Medical Center and other area hospitals, as well as help families with children in a medical crisis.
