Providing free breast, cervical and colorectal cancer screenings to low income women and men aged 18 and over.

You're Not Alone.
For help with cancer care, turn to Samaritan Medical Center.

When you learn you may have cancer or receive an actual diagnosis of the disease, it is often a difficult, confusing and anxious time in your life. You will have questions and concerns about your health, and you may need help in getting the care you need.

At Samaritan Medical Center, a nurse navigator is available to help patients who may have breast or prostate cancer to "navigate" through the healthcare system. This program is designed to help you clarify and understand the many aspects of your diagnosis and treatment.

Through Samaritan’s Patient Navigation Program for breast and prostate cancer, you will have the support and assistance you need to ensure the best care possible.

How can you access the program?

The oncology nurse navigator works closely with Samaritan Medical Center's physicians and staff. In some cases, she is advised of a newly diagnosed patient and will contact that patient directly. Referrals also come from doctors’ offices, or patients may call the nurse navigator directly.

How can the oncology nurse navigator help?

The oncology nurse navigator's primary responsibilities are to ease the burden on patients and their families and to help coordinate the efforts of the medical team. In this role, she will:

  • Guide you through the medical experience.
  • Provide emotional support during a very stressful time.
  • Help you find answers to insurance questions.
  • Assist you in finding accurate information to make informed decisions.
  • Support you through the healthcare experience during further diagnosis and treatment.
  • Explore transportation, work, financial or other concerns you may have and connect you to appropriate local resources and support.
  • Assist you in getting answers to your questions.

Samaritan’s Patient Navigation Program is provided at no cost to our patients.

If you or someone you know would like more information about cancer diagnosis, treatment or follow up care, please call our Oncology Nurse Navigator, Bonnie Trudeau.
